Originally, the term computer referred
to a person who
performed numerical calculations, often
with the aid of a mechanical calculating
device or analog computer.
Examples of
these early devices, include the abacus and the Antikythera mechanism, an ancient
Greek device for calculating the movements
of planets which dates from about 87 BC .
In the developed world,
virtually every profession today, makes
use of computers.
 
Apple has
been a major player in the evolution of
personal computing since its founding in
1976, and introduced Lisa, the first commercial
personal computer to employ a graphical
user interface.
